Alex- A strength and movement coach
Posted by Okami Sport onAlex specialises in mobility, rehabilitation and movement, which is helping people move better and get stronger.
He was a competitive Thai boxer growing up, coaching at his dad’s club. In school, Alex got an interest in lifting and training strength alongside competing in Jiujitsu. Unfortunately, he got a few injuries after leaving school leading him to go down the strength and movement route in order to become a coach. He’s now been doing this alongside lifting for 15 years now.
Alex has a routine of stretches that is done every day. It varies day to day and he usually moves in accordance with how his body feels.
This is important to do as you should aim to move every joint and limb through a full range of movement. This helps maintain and improve your body’s control and joint movement. Also, it increases blood circulation to tissues which helps with recovery, reduces inflammation and will help you access your body on a daily basis. Having a morning routine of about 10-15 minuets will also set your mind for the day, making you feel more positive and motivated.
What are 3 things people should be doing every day?
- “Move more. Even if its walking, cycling, running, lifting weights or stretching. Sit less.”
- “implement a morning movement routine to start your day in the best possible way” “Create positive daily habits, which can lead to your goals whether it’s to gain strength, lose weight or become more mobile. But you have to stay consistent”
